I have invested a lifetime in this franchise and have so much love and respect for the people who work here, and I only want the best for them. There are so many fantastic memories that I was lucky enough to be a part of during my time here; and I loved getting to work with world-class athletes for more than three decades. Seeing guys improve on a daily and yearly basis was a constant reward.
Considering all that, if Allen goes ahead of Mayfield as expected, then three could be the number of passers drafted early, as the Colts, Buccaneers, Bears, 49ers and Raiders won’t be thinking QB at No. 6 through No. 10. The Dolphins at No. 11 had been an emerging threat for Mayfield but now are less so with the Ryan Tannehill contract restructure.

Godley (2-0) struck out nine and allowed four hits and no walks. He’s allowed just one run in 14 innings this season.
It’s been really good so far just being able to execute pitches, Godley said. The biggest thing is our defense has been awesome.

Godley was pretty good, too, attacking with a biting curveball that had the Giants batters off-balance all night.
Corey Widmer may be the exception, but he’s willing to be the vocal exception.
The former Giants middle linebacker, who played eight years in the NFL, recently turned down an invitation to be enshrined in the Montana Football Hall of Fame because he’s so disturbed by what the game he once played did to him and countless others. So for him, all the pain present and future isn’t worth the money and the glory in his past.
Widmer described physical and emotional symptoms consistent with other former players dealing with brain injuries, and he’s fearful for what is to come.
“I’m 49 years old, depressed to the Nth degree but have a lot of money . . . and some people might say it’s still worth it. I just tell them to watch what they wish for,” Widmer said. “If someone could’ve explained all of this to me when I was 14, I would’ve given it all back in a heartbeat. I would’ve wished for something else.
“The 6-foot-2, 260-pound canary in the coal mine has died. Maybe having been in the coal mine is the only way to really get the point across.”
While many former players are willing to acknowledge the benefits of the sport — including financial — Widmer no longer feels comfortable with the trade-off. And he’s willing to walk away from any recognition of his playing career to underscore his point.
Koetter said Winston talked to Brett Favre and other former quarterbacks this offseason, looking for any tips to keep him healthy over the long haul of the season.
“I talked to Jameis and I know he’s put in a lot of study in the offseason and a lot of time,” Koetter said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “I just think the main thing that he learned last year is it’s hard to make it through a 16-game season at any position without having your body nicked up. He’d been blessed in his career to have never had many injuries, and he had some significant injuries last year and he did a great job of trying to play through it.
“I think he did some research with some veteran quarterbacks on how to get through those injuries, and I know he’s doing a great job of taking care of his body. These guys come into the league and they’ve just always been better than everybody, and now they’re playing against all elite players. I mean, Jameis has always been a winner and we haven’t won. I know Jameis will always do whatever it takes to help our team win.”
Limited Youth Jalston Fowler Jersey Nick Williams’ patience paid off.
Williams hit a tiebreaking solo homer as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night.
Scott Kingery homered for the first time in his career and Rhys Hoskins also went deep for the Phillies.
The win makes it that much better, Kingery said.
After Barnhart’s homer tied it at 3-3 in the third, Carlos Santana’s RBI double and Maikel Franco’s sacrifice fly in the bottom half put the Phillies ahead 5-3.
Scooter Gennett lined an RBI double in the fourth and Billy Hamilton drove in the tying run with an infield single in the sixth. Hamilton tried to score from second base on reliever Adam Morgan’s wild pitch, but catcher Jorge Alfaro threw to the pitcher covering the plate in time for the out.
What an athletic play, Kapler said.
The Reds opened the scoring in the first when Adam Duvall walked with the bases loaded, but Ben Lively pitched out of the jam. Barnhart lined out to shortstop and Phillip Ervin and Cliff Pennington struck out.
It was a big opportunity and we weren’t able to tack on, Reds manager Bryan Price said. It was a chance to put up a big number and nothing really went our way after that.
Franco finished with six RBI after just missing another homer when his two-run double hit high off the left-center field wall. He has driven in 10 runs in the past two games.
Santana’s shot to deep right field was his 1,000th career hit.
Manager Gabe Kapler has been impressed with his team’s patient approach at the plate. Philadelphia’s hitters walked six times and saw 200 pitches.
We’ve been grinding out at-bats and great things happened, Kapler said.

Marlins left-hander Dillon Peters (1-1) gave up nine runs and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings. Miami catcher Bryan Holaday tossed a perfect eighth, fanning cleanup hitter Rhys Hoskins on a 62 mph pitch to end the inning and earn smiles from teammates in the dugout.
Franco’s Jason Smith Jersey homer in the first made it 5-1. Altherr’s drive in the third extended the lead to 9-1. He was 1 for 19 this season before putting one in the seats in left.
I’m seeing the ball really good, feel really comfortable and just trying to get deeper in the count and hit a good pitch, Franco said.
Giancarlo Stanton’s Big Apple debut went dramatically different than he and Austin Pettis Jersey Yankees fans had hoped, as his five-strikeout performance drew boos late in the Bronx Bombers’ home-opening win.
You put up a performance like that, you should get some boos, Stanton said at his locker to a horde of reporters following his 0-for-5 afternoon.
Gregorius finished the game 4-for-4 with two home runs and a double. He also drove in a career-high eight RBIs. He’s the first Yankees player to have a two-homer, eight-RBI game since Alex Rodriguez had three home runs and 10 RBIs against the Los Angeles Angels in 2005.
He picked me up, Stanton said of Gregorius. That’s what a cleanup hitter does — clean up the garbage in front of you.
Despite Stanton’s shoddy statistical showing, Yankees manager Aaron Boone wasn’t stressing over the down day.
I like when the big boy doesn’t get any and we’re able to score 11, Boone said. Because there’s going to be a lot of days when we hop on his back. And being that kind of day, I actually thought he looked OK at the plate. He was close on a couple. He almost clipped a couple on the balls he fouled off.
So just one of those days when you’re a big-time slugger like that, there will be days like that. The fact that we’re still able to roll out 11, I don’t even blink at it.
The Patriots likely need to add another receiver, and veterans such as Jordan Matthews, Jeremy Maclin, and Eric Decker are still available and can be had for cheap. But now the Patriots are loaded with draft picks, and can make a play for a quarterback in the first round.

Yet Cooks, for his 65 catches, 1,082 yards, and seven touchdowns, was shipped out of town after his one season in New England, traded to the Rams on Tuesday for the rough equivalent of a late first/early second-round pick.

When I watched him in practice he moved well, I didn’t see limitations, but from what I (was) told, there was some, Zimmer said. Moments before, Pillar, who reached base on a one-out single, had stolen second and third base against the often deliberate-to-the-plate Yankees reliever Dellin Betances.
As Betances got into his stretch windup while up two strikes on Ngoepe, an idea flashed into Pillar’s head.
I felt like they weren’t holding me on. They were playing back, Pillar said. They were playing to get the hitter out, and I got a pretty big walking lead.
I started jumping up and down to see if I could get [Betances’] attention.

Colin Moran’s name will forever be entwined with Gerrit Cole’s whether the new Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman likes it or not. It simply comes with the territory when you’re part of the trade that sends a franchise cornerstone out of town.
Moran did little during spring training to hint at the power potential the Pirates saw in him when they made him part of the deal that sent Cole to Houston in January. Even as Pittsburgh led the Grapefruit League in homers, he failed to go deep even once.
Then Moran swung at a full-count fastball from Minnesota’s Lance Lynn with the bases loaded in the first inning on Monday. A minute later he was taking a curtain call after the first grand slam of his young career helped the Pirates edge the Minnesota Twins 5-4 to give the franchise just its third 4-0 start in 35 years
Minnesota rallied for four runs in the sixth off Taillon and three relievers then put the tying base on in the seventh and eighth but couldn’t pull even. George Kontos worked a perfect ninth for his second career save with usual closer Felipe Rivero unavailable after finishing up both ends of a doubleheader on Sunday in Detroit.
They put the barrel on us a little bit but we got the outs we needed, Hurdle said.
We’re going to look back at this particular time in history as being a transitional moment for the city, Snyder said. We’re a city that was known as the entertainment capital of the world. I’ve said many times that this stadium, over time, will become the most successful stadium in the world.
It’s still a year or two away before the Raiders arrive in Vegas. Aug. 1, 2020, is targeted for completion of the stadium. Bernhard and McCallum, a pair of Las Vegas dads who became friends during the process, each have visions of opening night.
Someday, Napoleon is going to walk hand-and-hand with his four daughters into that stadium, and I’m going to walk in with my two daughters, Bernhard said. There will be six daughters and two daddies, and we’ll say, ‘Your daddies played a little role in all of this.’
McCallum wants to see local talent on the field before the first game. He’d also like to catch a punt with one hand, like he used to do in past fan appreciation days for the Raiders.
Then, to top it off, Bruno Mars, McCallum said. That’s how you open a stadium.
Broncos head coach Vance Joseph proclaimed Paxton Lynch the backup to Case Keenum, but the team continues to look at the top quarterback prospects in the draft.
General Manager John Elway was among the team personnel to attend Pro Days for Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen the past two days. Elway won’t attend Josh Allen’s Pro Day at Wyoming, but team scouts will, Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post reports, and the Broncos have a private workout scheduled with Sam Darnold.

The Green Bay Packers hosted receiver Jordan Matthews on a free-agent visit Thursday, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter . Matthews, a former second-round pick, spent last season with the Buffalo Bills producing his worst output to date as he caught 25 passes for 282 yards with one touchdown through 10 games. It’s been a good offseason for the Cleveland Browns so far. One could even argue the team had the most productive month in the NFL in March.

The Cardinals obviously think so, as they just signed him to a two-year, $8 million deal, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Jaguars rewarded Hurns with a four-year contract extension worth up to $40 million in June 2016. Injuries limited the 26-year-old to 19 games over the past two seasons, leading to Jacksonville releasing him Tuesday.聽
B/R NFL 1000 Scouts had Hurns ranked as the No. 33 outside wide receiver for the 2017 season with an overall grade of 65 out of 100:
As the Jags’ possession receiver, Hurns is used often over the middle, against zone coverage and on third downs. He’s a trustworthy route-runner who catches mostly everything within his reach. He’s not going to get deep, but he’s a solid contested-catch receiver outside and a physical asset in the slot, especially in the red zone.
Hurns’ recent injury history is a concern, but his age makes it easy to Alexander Burmistrov Jersey bet on his potential and returning to the 2015 form that made him a star.聽
